People 1st named in Sunday Times Best Place to Work list
People 1st has been listed in the annual Sunday Times poll of the 100 Best Places to Work in the public and charity sectors, becoming the only sector skills council to be included.
The organisation, which is the sector skills council for the hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism industries, was ranked in the list of 100 due to the fact that staff within the organisation believed they made a “valuable contribution” to the body’s success, as well as having great faith in the chief executive, Brian Wisdom.
David Fairhurst, chief people officer (Europe) for McDonald’s and chairman of People 1st, noted that it is only the organisation’s second year of entering the Best Companies accreditation programme, while it was also shortlisted in the category for training and development.
“Despite the past year being a challenging financial climate, all of our employees put a huge amount into making this a great place to work and I’m delighted that we have been recognised for living our values,” he added.
Last year, Bovey Castle in Dartmoor was named a First Class Company for 2011 in the annual Best Companies to Work For poll for the way it treats those in hospitality jobs at the venue.
