DCH Mardi Gras Masquerade – All are invited to the Dedham Community House Mardi Gras Masquerade Party on Friday, March 4, at 7 p.m. at 671 High St. Come escape the winter doldrums with a night full of masks, beads, Creole Cuisine provided by Whole Foods Market, cash bar, silent auction and more! Kids Fest – Church of the Good Shepherd in Oakdale Square is once again hosting Kids Fest. This free arts and crafts celebration is open to all kids grades preK – grade 5. There will be face painting, foam art, tile painting and lots more. The event is Saturday, March 5, from 11a.m. to 2 p.m. and is FREE. We just ask that folks bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the Dedham Food Pantry.

College Planning Seminar – If you’re planning to go to college, don’t miss the upcoming evening seminar about the college planning process at Blue Hills Regional Technical School, 800 Randolph St., Canton. This program will be held on Wednesday, March 9, in the café at 6:30 p.m. A speaker from the Mass. Educational Financing Authority will present info on planning, saving and paying for college. Parent Life – St. Mary’s Church invites ALL parents and adults to join us as we launch the Parent Life program on Ash Wednesday (Wednesday, March 9) in the Frassati Center, St Mary’s Parish Center, lower level from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Parent Life will meet every other Wednesday throughout the year. Parent Life is a faith support group of the Catholic Church, providing support and resources for Parents and Adults to grow in their Catholic faith. The Parent Life program is part of St Mary’s “Catholics Come Home” outreach. Parent Life strives to reach both active and inactive Catholic parents and adults, welcoming ALL Catholics wherever they are in their journey. Parent Life was developed by the Catholic Life Teen organization in 1993. It was originally developed as a ministry dedicated and geared to the parents of Catholic youth. The objective of Parent Life is to lead parents closer to Christ.

Research suggests that sugar, not fat, may be the biggest culprit in weight gain. In a workshop at Keldara Salon and Spa in Dedham, Peg Doyle, Workshop leader, Wellness Coach and Nutrition Counselor, will show people how to become sugar-smart without resorting to artificial sweeteners. The event will be held Tuesday, March 8, 7-8 p.m. at Keldara Salon and Spa on 250 Washington St. Registration fee of $20 is required and must be paid ahead of time in person or at www.keldara.com by choosing pre-pay for services.
