TAB 50th Birthday Stakes Nominations 2011

Nominations are out for the TAB 50th Birthday Stakes, one of four listed events to be held at Flemington this Saturday on Australian Guineas Day.

The race will be run over 1400m and worth $125,000, there are 16 runners plus four emergencies.

Bart Cummings has had a fairly quiet Autumn season by his standards but that could change as he trains one of the biggest nominations in the field.

Roman Emperor

Roman Emperor has been nominated for the Listed TAB 50th Birthday Stakes at Flemington

Roman Emperor has raced in Melbourne Cups, Caulfield Cups, AJC Derby’s and plenty of other Group 1 races over his career.

In fact his last win was in the AJC Derby back in 2009.

The horse hasn’t raced since the start of 2010 after being scratched from the Melbourne Cup.

It has been a long anticipated comeback to see if the horse can recapture the form of years gone by.

At only 1400m winning the race first up is a pretty big ask but there’s no doubting in terms of big race experience and career achievements no other horse comes close.

Other notable entries for the race include Luen Yat Forever, Orbit Express, Playwright, Danzylum and Keano.

The final field will be posted later in the week as well as complete Luxbet odds.
