Baseball America, the authority on MLB organizational depth, released its list of the top 100 prospects in the game today, and three Detroit Tigers made the list.

Right-handed pitcher Jacob Turner, the team’s first-round draft pick in 2009, led the way, at No. 21. Shortstop Nick Castellanos, the team’s first pick in 2010, ranked No. 65, and left-hander Andy Oliver, who made his big-league debut last summer, was No. 87.

Baseball America rated Turner’s best tool his fastball and estimated he would be with the Tigers in 2012. Castellanos’ best tool is his power, and he should be in the bigs in 2013. Oliver’s best tool also is his fastball, and he’s expected to contribute this season.

The list is “based on projections of a player’s long-term worth after discussions with scouting and player-development personnel. All players who haven’t exceeded the major league rookie standards of 130 at-bats or 50 innings pitched (without regard to service time) are eligible,” according to Baseball America’s Web site.

Washington’s Bryce Harper, the No. 1 overall pick in last summer’s draft, was No. 1.
