January sales of existing homes – and their median sale prices – increased in Tippecanoe County from January 2010, according to a new report.

The numbers follow a statewide trend that also saw an increase in the number and prices of homes sold, according to a report released today by the Indiana Association of Realtors.

In Tippecanoe County, January home sales increased 5.9 percent from January 2010, from 68 to 72, the report said. Median price jumped from $103,000 to $105,000, or just under 2 percent.

Statewide, the number of sales rose 2.9 percent. The median price went from $95,000 to $100,000 – an increase of 5.3 percent.

However, the number of new listings decreased at both the state and county level. In Tippecanoe County, nine new houses were listed for sale in January, while 11 were listed during that month last year.
