A dormant site in front of the Lexington Mall property is now up for sale.

Southland Christian Church’s purchase of the mall property included the acreage on which the Applebee’s and Perkins restaurants sit, but it did not include the site of a former BP service station.

Owned by an out-of-state company, the 0.52-acre site is now listed for sale through Ken Silvestri, president of Silvestri-Craig Realtors. The list price is $750,000. The site’s assessed value is $710,000.

Silvestri, who was the broker on the sale of Lexington Mall to Southland, said his decision to approach the station’s owner came from his work looking for property along that stretch for a bank.

“We started scouring up and down the street, and that location kept coming back as a spot that would be good,” Silvestri said. “After we ended up selling the Lexington Mall to Southland last year, we just kept digging in to contact the owners.”

The owners are Convenience Stores Leasing Management LLC of Brookfield, Wis. The company also owns a service station location near the bowling lanes in the Eastland area.

Though it’s available for purchase, the mall property’s new owner isn’t necessarily interested in filling out its area.

“At this point, that’s not even on our radar screen,” said Southland’s lead executive pastor, Chris Hahn, noting its focus on the property it owns.
