Sonny Bono’s former home on market for $4M

The former home of the late Sonny Bono is on the market for just under $4 million.

The property, at 294 W. Crestview Drive in the Mesa neighborhood of Palm Springs, is surrounded by walls and gates, with landscaping that includes olive and palm trees, a pool and a tennis court.

At 6,648 square feet, the main house has three bedroom suites, kitchen, formal dining room, formal living room and family room with mountain views overlooking the pool.

The larger of the two guest cottages is 1,599 square feet, with two bedrooms and baths and hardwood floors. The one-bedroom guest house is 742 square feet and has been used as a gym in recent years.

Bono, who turned from a successful career in entertainment in the 1960s and 1970s to business and politics in the 1980s, served as mayor of Palm Springs from 1988 to 1992. He lived in the Crestview Drive house with his wife, Mary, and their two children.

He was elected to Congress in 1994 and died in a skiing accident in 1998 at the age of 62.

The house was sold in 1998 for $1.4 million, the last time it changed hands, according to public records. Mary Bono Mack was elected to her late husband’s seat in Congress.

It is believed the property is part of the King Camp Gillette Estate that was built in the 1920s by the inventor of the modern razor.
