Craigslist Sale Ends In Gunfire

DAYTON, Ohio — A cell phone and an alert driver kept two men from getting away with what police decribe as a classic Craigslist robbery.

They said what started as an internet sale ended in gunfire.

Craigslist is one of the most popular web sites in the country. Millions of people buy and sell items everyday. But more and more, police say those sales are turning into robberies.

It happened Thursday night when two men came from Cable, Ohio to Dayton to buy a motorcycle and a car engine listed for sale.

Police said they met two men near Gettysburg and Preston. The buyers walked to a garage thinking they were going to see the engine.

Instead, police said the men were robbed at gunpoint by Christopher Harvey and Devin Ward.

However, the victims didn’t let the men get away easily. They followed Harvey and Ward in their car, and called 911 to tell officers where the suspected robbers were headed.

The victims told police that someone in the suspect’s car fired several shots at them during the pursuit. Police eventually found the two alleged criminals and confiscated several handguns.

Harvey and Ward are now in custody facing charges.
