INEC releases list in Bayelsa, Delta, C-River, Rivers

Governor Timipre Sylva of Bayelsa State of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP,  and former Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta Timi Alaibe of the Labour Party were, yesterday listed by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, among 20 governorship candidates of the various political parties in the state for the April general elections.

Among the 20 governorship candidates listed, only the Citizen Popular Party, CPP,  presented a female candidate in the person of Anetorufagha Pereotubor.

In Delta State, list of more candidates was released by the Delta INEC REC, Dr. Gabriel Ada.

They are as follows, ACN, Ovie Omo-Agege to run for governorship under the platform of ACN with his deputy, John Kpokpogri. Temi Harriman for Delta South Senate, Ifeanyichukwu Onwukamike for Delta North Senate, Prof Adego Erhiawarie, Delta Central Senate ANPP

Former member of the Delta Assembly, George Oyefia is to run for governorship under ANPP with Egonte Ndidi as deputy. For Senate,  Okonkwo Nnamdi Naps-Delta North, Chief David Angalabiri- Delta South, Ambassador Elizabeth Agbon-Day,  Delta Central.

In Cross Rivers State, INEC  published the names of candidates for the April governorship election, presented to it by various poltical parties.

They are   Sen. Liyel Imoke, his deputy Mr Efiok Cobham of the PDP,  Sen. Matthew Mbu of the ACN, Dr. Theo Onyuku of the Labour Party, Etubom Nya Asuquo of the Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, Mr. Goddie Akpama of the Progressive Peoples’ Alliance.

Others are Pastor Iheke Awa Solomon of the All Nigeria Peoples’ Party, ANPP,  and Mrs. Stella Eno of the Alliance for Democracy.
In Rivers State, Governor Chibuike Amaechi, Dr Abiye Sekibo and Sir Celestine Omehia are among the 29 governorship candidates of various political parties gunning for the plum job of Governor of Rivers State in the coming April governorship election.

Amaechi, Omehia and Sekibo, who were hitherto members of the PDP, would be slugging it out this time on different platforms.
Some other  contestants on the list released by INEC include Bekinbo Soberekon for  Accord Party, Alliance for Democracy – Prince Uchechukwu Ichenwo, New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP – David Chinedum Godwin, Justice Party, Urang Samuel Bartholomew among others.

The All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP does not have a governorship candidate on the list.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state,Mr Aniedi Ikoiwak told the Vanguard that the  list of candidates for various other offices were posted at headquarters of local governments for Houses of Assembly and INEC offices in the senatorial districts  for  those gunning for  the senatorial seats.
