Filppula listed as week-to-week with knee injury

Red Wings forward Valtteri Filppula was listed as week-to-week with a knee injury by Red Wings head coach Mike Babcock this morning after the team’s skate before tonight’s game with Nashville.

“Fil’s got a slight knee sprain or knee tweak or whatever you want to call it,” said Babcock. “He’s not day-to-day, he’s week-to-week. We’ll see how he does.

“I mean, obviously, we’d like to have him back. We’d like to have all hands on deck. We’d like to find out what kind of hockey team we really have, but we’re playing Nashville tonight and they don’t have guys.”

Filppula injured his knee in the Red Wings win over the New York Rangers Monday night at Joe Louis Arena.

“The doctors, without the MRI, didn’t think it was very serious,” said Babcock. “The MRI thought it was more serious, so we’ll find out which one’s right, you know what I mean, as time goes on. He’s feeling already a little bit better today, which is a good sign.”

“He won’t skate for a couple days here for sure,” said Babcock. “Probably a week.”
