Minot State University DarwinDay 2011 event: Guest artist Tom Fleming at 9 a.m. in MSU’s Aleshire Theater, Hartnett Hall. Fleming is a fantasy artist and illustrator. The event is free and open to the public.
MSU DarwinDay 2011 live music and art: 10 a.m., MSU’s Beaver Dam, Student Center. The event is free and open to the public.
MSU DarwinDay 2011 with guest speaker Neil Shubin: 10:30 a.m., MSU’s Aleshire Theater. The event is free and open to the public.
Free lunch: 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., First Lutheran Church, 120-5th Ave. NW.
Magic City Jazz Festival and Concert: The festival will take place during the day, with the concert at 7 p.m., Minot State University’s Ann Nicole Nelson Hall. It will include groups from Minot Public Schools, Surrey, Williston Public Schools and Williston State College. Guest soloists will be Kenni Holmen, tenor saxophone player from Minneapolis, and Doug Woolverton, trumpet player, a native of Newport, R.I. The Minot Public Schools jazz bands and the Swing Band of Minot will also be featured. Concert ticket prices are $7 for adults; $5 for children ages 7 through 12; and free for children ages 6 and younger.
