Royalstar closing down sale of all bloodstock

The Sale will be conducted by tender and the offering of about 100 lots includes Group and classic winning mares, ‘black type’ winner-producing mares in-foal and with foals at foot, weanlings and two and three-year-olds.

As WA’s leading standardbred nursery, the Royalstar Farm Closing Down Dispersal Sale is attracting widespread interest.

While the closing down of Royalstar Farm is regarded as a negative to the WA Harness Racing industry, the dispersal of it’s breeding and racing stock represents a rare opportunity for breeders to purchase quality stock from families that Royalstar has established over many years.

“We are genuine sellers with the intention of selling and not keeping any horses. All are to be sold,” Torre said.

Torre has been associated with harness racing for nearly 20 years, and in that time his horses have earned several millions in stake earnings. Amongst numerous breeding achievements, he was bestowed the honour as the inaugural WA Breeder of the Year by the WA Standardbred Breeders Association in 2009.

Over the years Torre sent many top yearlings to the WA sales, including the Parsons Den colt James Matthew, who was undefeated in his first 10 starts as a two-year-old and was named WA Horse of the Year.

Amongst Royalty, winner of the Australian Gold, Bathurst Tiara and WA Sales Race Finals to name but a few and rated as one of the finest juvenile pacers in WA in years; Aussie Reactor, conqueror of James Matthew in the WA Golden Slipper and one of the leading fancies in this Friday’s Australian Pacing Championship; the WA Oaks and Sires Stakes champion Sheer Royalty and other Group winners in Truckers Ruffnut, Shes Royalty, Spring Well, Supreme Royalty, Spicey Hot and Sheza Clout, all came out of Royalstar Farm.

Undoubtedly the highlight of the sale will be the former Australian 2YO Filly of the Year Amongst Royalty, who has a positive test to the fast Western Hanover import Allamerican Ingot.

One of the greatest racemares ever offered for public sale in this country, Amongst Royalty held a record of 1:55.1 and was the winner of 23 races – including seven at Group or Listed level – and earned a staggering $570,820 in stakes.

A former stablemate, Sheer Royalty, is also among the offering. The winner of the WA Oaks, Sires Series Final and Dainty’s Daughter Classic during a stellar three-year-old campaign and $248,904 lifetime, the daughter of Parsons Den is in-foal to second-season stallion Allamerican Ingot.

Royal Art, winner of the WA Sales Classic, Raid The Till (13 wins and $99,500), Casual Fling 1:58.9 ($82,950), Constant Craving 1:59.3 (10 wins and $75,423), Princess Opal 1:58.5 ($106,660) and the Moonee Valley and Harold Park winner Rakamo are other fine racemares going up for sale.

Another feature of the sale is the large number of ‘black type’ winner-producers, mostly in-foal and with foals at foot by some of Australia’s leading sires.

They include the dams of a swag of Cup or classic winners such as Shes Royalty (Vic. Blossom Lady and WA Empress Stakes), WA 3YO of the Year Jumbo Operator 1:57 ($271,280), the WA Sires Series champions Truckers Ruffnut 1:56.9 ($221,420) and Supreme Royalty ($93,739), Hy Royale 1:57 ($214,810), Spicey Hot 1:59.6 ($149,508), Spiritwithin 1:57.2 ($101,305), Hy Regency (WA Debutante Stakes) and Zen Over Again 1:59 (Aussco Classic).

Eight weanlings are listed for sale headed up by a half-brother to emerging WA star Jumbo Operator, a Northern Luck colt of the WA Sires Series 2YO champion Supreme Royalty ($93,739) and an Allamerican Ingot filly from Shes Royalty 1:58.1 ($288,146).
