ONE of the listed buildings at Winchester College can have a major internal refit, city planners decided.
New Hall in College Street was only built in the 1960s, but is Grade II listed by English Heritage.
The main reason is that it contains a large collection of historic wooden wall panels, chiefly dating from the 17th century.
College chiefs want to refit the hall, which will make it suitable for functions as well as providing more backstage space for performers.
They also hope to plug some leaks, which have been damaging panels.
