A FAMILY-run farm near Cullompton has been short-listed for a national ‘Beautiful Farm’ award.

Louise and Jon Burrough, from Peradon Organic Farm in Clyst Hydon, have been invited to the House of Lords to attend a lunch reception in mid-March when the award winners will be announced.

Jon Burrough said: “We are really delighted to have been short-listed for the award.

“Our farm is really picturesque and this past year we’ve been successfully selling our organic meat direct to customers to make the business more profitable.

“We’re also very environmentally friendly in all we do.

“It’s really fantastic to have been recognised in this way.”

Louise Burrough added: “We’re very excited about going to the House of Lords next month.

“It’ll certainly be a nice change to leave our wellies behind for a day to get dressed up for the occasion.”

It’s been a good year for Peradon in the awards stakes – it was only two months ago that the farm was one of only two finalists for the South-West Producer of the Year Award.

The ‘Beautiful Farm’ awards are designed to highlight some of Britain’s best farms and show that a beautiful farm and a profitable farm business can go hand-in hand.

They are organised by Farm Business in association with New Holland Tractors.
