National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association Chapter 55 will hold its monthly luncheon meeting on Feb. 14 at the China Star Restaurant at 4780 E. Grant Road, Tucson. The Southeastern Arizona Contractors Association will be holding its regularly scheduled monthly meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 16, at the Pueblo del Sol Country Club beginning at 11:30 a.m with lunch. The FHCSC will be hosting the annual Basket Auction on Feb. 16 at the Windemere Hotel, beginning at 11 a.m. with a lunch and the auction will follow. Themed baskets will be available for attendees to bid on through both a silent and live auction. All proceeds from the event will benefit the FHCSC’s scholarship fund. HASRA and AASRA (Huachuca Area School Retirees Association and All Arizona School Retirees Association) will host a Power Point presentation and discussion at 3:30 p.m. Feb. 17 in the Buena High School Pod concerning possible legislation affecting school employees’ pension funds. The groups will be discussing threats to the Defined Benefit Plan, including its constitutional protection. Coronado Chapter — Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) will conduct its February meeting at the Thunder Mountain Activity Center on Fort Huachuca on Thursday, Feb. 17. The Chili For Civility (CFC) fundraiser will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Feb. 26 at the Bisbee Boys and Girls Club. The Huachuca Gould’s Chapter will be hosting a Free Family Hunting weekend on March 12 and 13. The event is primarily for families with children 10-17 years old that have no or little hunting experience. Hunting instruction along with actual field hunts, with the guidance of experienced mentors, will be the focus of this event. Various activities will be available for family members who do not participate in the hunting event. The first reunion of the Buena Show Band celebrating almost 40 years of music will take place the weekend of June 24 to 26, with an alumni concert on Saturday night. Rehearsals for alumni who want to play in the concert will be held on Saturday afternoon, with lunch and dinner served at the high school. The concert will be held at the Buena High School Performing Arts Center on Saturday evening. The Friday night dinner reception includes a buffet dinner and no host bar. The Nature Conservancy’s Ramsey Canyon Preserve needs volunteers to act as bookstore clerks and to greet visitors. Each shift is 4.5 hours March through October; 3.5 hours November through February. Sierra Vista Senior Meals Program is in immediate need of volunteer drivers to distribute home-delivered meals. The days of delivery are Tuesdays (8:30 to 11 a.m.) and Thursdays (8:30 to 11 a.m.). The American Legion Riders are a group of motorcycle enthusiasts sharing goals to support veterans, their families, and the community. Visitors from all over the world come to see the more than 170 species of birds found in the Ramsey Canyon Preserve and surrounding national forest. Southwestern specialties such as painted redstarts and magnificent hummingbirds share the canyon with many other animals, including mountain lions, leopard frogs, rattlesnakes, and dozens of species of butterflies. The canyon is also home to more than 400 species of plants, from tiny mosses to towering firs. Guided nature walks are conducted 9 a.m. Monday, Thursday and Saturday mornings. The Volunteer Interfaith Caregiver Program is a critical community resource for the elderly, disabled and the caregivers of aging parents.
