The county’s Department of Growth Management is accepting offers for two single-family homes that were recently purchased and repaired through the Neighborhood Stabilization Program.
Both of the homes are in Gainesville, one at 3150 NE 12th St. and the other at 1631 S.E. 37th St., and both list for less than $89,000. Anyone interested in bidding on the homes must do so through a Realtor by Feb. 18.
The money to buy these two homes and others, and then fix them up, was awarded to the county by the Florida Department of Community Affairs. The program is an effort to rehabilitate foreclosed homes so that they will meet minimum housing codes and can be occupied rather than allowed to stand empty and deteriorate.
County officials said potential buyers must meet income requirements. For example, a family of four with an annual income of $73,560 may be eligible to buy a home under the program. Other requirements included completing an approved home buyer’s education course.
