1700 on DSF Facebook

DUBAI — Dubai Shopping Festival 2011 has not only brought people from all over the world to the city thanks to its month-long shopping offers but its Facebook page, Dubai Events, has gathered more than 1,700 netizens in less than two weeks since the start of DSF on January 20. Around 200 subscribers were listed on the site but the number rose right before the start of DSF.

Dubai Events site page, managed by Dubai Events Promotions Establishments (DEPE), an agency of the Department of Economic Department (DED) in Dubai and the organisers of DSF, has been set up to provide the community with information on events and activities during DSF 2011 as well as to respond to queries. According to a DEPE official, the number of page ‘likes’ to date is 1,784.

The Dubai Events photo gallery shares captured memories of the colourful DSF activities with internet surfers.

Visitors and subscribers are also urged to upload their own images and video shots of the festivities to the Dubai Events’ page.

The site can be found at www.facebook.com/dxbevents. It features detailed information on a variety of events from concerts and dance performances to shopping for bargain deals as well as timings and dates of events.

General inquiries are also answered and the page provides direct link to useful DSF-related sites such as the official site for the event on www.mydsf.ae and links to other social media networks such as Twitter, flickr and Youtube.  Information is updated regularly and winners of the Lexus, Nissan and Gold raffles are announced on site daily.
