Senior Center bowling league underway; menu listed
The Pittston Senior Center is running a 14 week bowling league on Fridays beginning at 1 p.m. until all teams complete three games which may end somewhere between 3 3:30. This league is open to seniors 60-plus. Some of these folks have not had an opportunity to bowl in over 30 years. It is a fun league and they do have fun.
Senior Citizens Centers, sponsored by the Area Agency on Aging for Luzerne and Wyoming counties, offer hot noon meals, Monday through Friday to people 60 years of age or older. Donations from participants are gratefully accepted and needed in order to expand this program.
Monday – Meatball sandwich, whole wheat hoagie roll, Caesar salad, chicken pasta soup, crackers, oatmeal raisin cookie, margarine, milk coffee.
Tuesday – Apple cranberry pork chops, sweet potatoes, red beets, whole wheat dinner roll, pita chips and hummus, rice pudding, margarine, milk and coffee.
Wednesday-Bag Lunch – Italian Hoagie, margarine, milk and coffee
Thursday – Chinese New Year Special Luncheon, sweet and sour pork, vegetable fried rice, Chinese noodles, mini egg rolls, pineapple tarts, margarine, milk, coffee.
Friday -Roast turkey, gravy (low sodium), bread stuffing, peas and pearl onions, cranberry sauce, multi-grain dinner roll, cinnamon applesauce, margarine, milk and coffee.
Dance class will resume on Monday, January 31 at 10 a.m. Learn to do the Electric Slide as well as other popular dance steps. This class is available at no charge to members.
On Thursday, February 3 at 11 a.m. the public as well as center members are invited to join us for a presentation on Rheumatoid Arthritis. Guest speaker will be Dr. Brian Delvecchio. Dinner will be served at noon following this presentation. To make dinner reservations call Connie or Hazel at 655-5561. Suggested donations is $2.
The Valentine’s Day special dinner and party will be held on Monday, February 14. Dinner will be served at noon for a suggested donation of $2 followed by dancing to the sounds of Bill and Donna Arnold from 1 to 3 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. Cost to attend the party is $3 and reservations for both the dinner and the party must be made in advance.
On Friday, February 18 representatives from Senator John Yudichak’s office will be available for 9 a.m. to noon to assist with filling out applications for the 2010 property tax or rent rebate forms. To make an appointment or for further information, call the center at 655-5561. This is a free service to seniors.
