Australian goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer has been short-listed for the Most Valuable Player award at the Asian Cup, organisers announced on Friday.
It is another honour for the Fulham keeper, who will become Australia’s most capped player in the Asian Cup final against Japan early on Sunday (AEDT).
The Socceroos have conceded just one goal so far in the tournament, in their 1-1 draw with South Korea during the group stage.
Japanese playmaker Keisuke Honda, South Korean captain Park Ji-Sung and Uzbekistan captain Server Djeparov complete the four-man list.
South Korea, who lost on penalties to Japan in the semi-finals, will meet Uzbekistan – beaten 6-0 by Australia – in the third-place play-off.
The winner of the award will be announced after the final.
