Colin Martin’s name is not on the land title of the palatial country estate where he was arrested on drug charges last July.
But the Public Prosecution Service of Canada and the RCMP Integrated Proceeds of Crime section went to court to prevent its sale anyway – pending the outcome of drug trafficking and smuggling cases against Martin in both Canada and the U.S.
So they were a bit suprised this week to learn that the house was in fact listed for sale for $1.75 million despite the court order.
Realtor Kellie Pittman said she got an email Wednesday from a government official telling her about the order. She said she would investigate further, but was adamant that Martin and his wife Jennifer Cahill “are only the renters” despite the fact that the house was once in Cahill’s name and that an earlier Martin trial heard that Cahill was building it with $700,000 of unexplained income.
Martin had been trying to get bail in B.C. Supreme Court on his new charges. But he was denied Thursday morning.
