Cody shooting victim listed in stable condition

CODY, Wyo. — A 53-year old man shot on Friday in a Cody home was
listed in stable condition Monday at West Park Hospital.

Larry Jansma was shot by 62-year-old John Tully on Friday at
about 11 p.m. Tully committed suicide in the home shortly
afterward, police say.

Cody Police Chief Perry Rockvam said Jansma and Kathy Stahl, 52,
were at a Cody liquor store on Friday when they ran into Tully.

Later that night, when Stahl and Jansma returned to Stahl’s home
at 3220 Sheridan Ave., Tully was waiting in the garage. Tully left
after the two confronted him.

But according to police, the two spotted Tully outside the home
20 minutes later. At 11 p.m., Stahl called police to report that
Tully was trying to break in.

When officers arrived, they learned that Tully had shot Jansma
at least once from outside the house through a window while Stahl
was on the phone.

Stahl tried to barricade herself in a bathroom before Tully
forced himself in and shot himself with a .44 magnum pistol,
according to police.

Officers found Tully dead on a hallway floor near the bathroom
with a revolver next to his body. They found Jansma conscious and
breathing on the dining room floor.

A spokesman for West Park Hospital said Monday that Jansma
remained in hospital care and was listed in stable condition.
