Gunshot victim listed in stable condition

Police continue to investigate an incident that left a man in his mid-30s injured with a gunshot wound to his abdomen in Duluth’s Lakeside neighborhood Saturday night.

Officers blocked off several streets after responding to a neighbor’s report of an injured man near 40th Avenue East and McCulloch Street at 10:52 p.m. Saturday. The wounded man, whose identity has not yet been made public, was transported to a local hospital where Duluth Public Information Officer Jim Hansen said he was listed in stable condition Sunday.

Portions of 40th Avenue East, 41st Avenue East, Robinson Street and McCullough Street were blocked off. The police activity centered on McCullough Street between 40th and 41st avenues East.

At about 11:30 p.m. Saturday, it appeared that some officers were using spotlights and flashlights to search the grounds of the Northland Country Club, which is across 40th Avenue East from the scene of the reported shooting.
