The median asking price for small businesses in the Sacramento area was down more than 20 percent in fourth quarter 2010 compared with a year earlier, according to San Francisco-based BizBuySell.com, which tracks business sales nationwide.

BizBuySell said Tuesday the median asking price of area businesses in last year’s final quarter was $199,000, down from $250,000 in the last quarter of 2009.

Fourth quarter calculations were based on 114 area businesses listed for sale at BizBuySell. Listed businesses had median revenue of $396,026, down from $419,121 in the fourth quarter of 2009.
