After turning down the chance to direct Tales from the Gangster Squad for Warner Bros., director Ben Affleck is still looking for another project to follow-up The Town. We’ve already heard that he’s interested in adapting Replay for Warner Bros, and he’s had The Trade in his backpocket for a little while now, but a new project has just surfaced. The Wrap reports the actor-turned-director is now looking at American Bullshit, a script that came in at #30 on last year’s Black List and tells the true story of Abscam, the FBI’s 1980 undercover sting operation of Congress to root out corruption which was the brainchild of the world’s greatest con man.

Atlas Entertainment producers Charles Roven (The Dark Knight) and Richard Suckle (The International) are behind the project along with Sony Pictures Entertainment. Once again, Affleck has not yet made a decision about American Bullshit, but it’s definitely in the running to be his next directing gig. Personally, I think I’m more interested in seeing The Trade get off the ground since it could also involve Damon and seeing the Good Will Hunting duo (who bleed Boston Red) tackle a project involving the Yankees just sounds delightful. What do you think?
