Blood Drive – The Masonic lodges of Westwood will host a blood drive on Saturday, Jan. 15, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Westwood Masonic Building, 655 High St., in conjunction with National Blood Donor Month. January collections are especially important because inclement weather and seasonal illnesses cut into community response, so this Westwood effort is especially important. The Westwood lodges include members of the former Constellation Lodge A.F. A.M. of Dedham, which recently merged with Eliot-Hyde Park Lodge under the name Celestial Lodge. All donors will be offered a delicious breakfast, prepared by lodge members, and will receive a free pound of Dunkin Donuts coffee. Appointments can be made by calling the Red Cross at 1-800-733-2767 and online at WWW.redcrossblood.org.

Play – All are welcome to attend the one-woman play, “Etty,” at St. Susanna Church, 262 Needham St. in Dedham at 7 p.m. on Jan. 24. Based on the journals (“An Interrupted Life”) of Etty Hillesum, (a young Dutch Jewish woman killed in the Holocaust), the play “demonstrates her yearnings, her fears, her intimate relationship with God, as well as with close friends.” Join us for actor/writer Susan Stein’s luminous portrayal of Etty, which was described as “impeccable” when first presented in NYC. Admission is free, but a suggested donation of $10 is appreciated. For more info, see www.saintsusanna.org, or e-mail patferrone@rcn.com.
