The calf has been re-listed on auction website Trade Me after the winner of the last auction withdrew their bid.
Jonathan King listed the 2-month-old calf on Trade Me before Christmas in an effort to find the animal a good home and raise some beer money.
The calf, which has an extra leg growing from its shoulder, sold for $305 but Mr King received a message from the bidder’s partner withdrawing the bid.
“I was a bit brassed off. I offered [the calf] to the other bidders but no one replied,” he said.
The calf was listed again on Monday with a note telling bidders to ask permission from their partners before placing any bids on the calf.
A bidding war has already started in the second auction with four people so far offering up to $60 for the animal.
Mr King said the calf was unfazed by the extra leg and would make an ideal pet.
“I just hope she goes to a good home,” he said. “She’s very friendly. You can get about two to three metres up to her. She’s real quiet.”
While he thought the calf was wonderful, Mr King said he could not keep it on the farm where he worked.
It would have fetched only $15 if put on the bobby calf truck to be slaughtered.
“She’s just lovely.
Something with an extra leg has to be cool,” Mr King said. “I hope she has a long life.”
The auction will run until 3pm on Sunday, January 23.
