Spring training tickets go on sale Saturday

If you’re a Detroit Tigers and like popcorn you may want to go to the stadium Saturday.

Spring training tickets for home games go on sale at the stadium box office and if you get there between 9 a.m. and noon you can get free popcorn, soda and coffee at the concession stand. And, the Tigers’ merchandise for sale is 50 percent off the listed price.

The Tigers will be playing at Lakeland’s Joker Marchant Stadium this spring for the 46th year.

Tickets for the 2011 spring exhibition season are at three separate levels, which include Navy, Orange and White levels.

Navy level games on Feb. 28, March 9, March 15 and March 16 range from $14-25. Orange level games on Feb. 27, March 4, March 6, March 12, March 13, March 19, March 22 and March 26 range from $12-23. White level games on Feb. 25, March 1, March 2, March 8, March 17 and March 24 range from $9-20.

The Tigers will begin the exhibition schedule on Friday, Feb. 25 as the club plays host to Florida Southern College in its annual matchup against the Moccasins.

The club opens the home portion of the Grapefruit League schedule against the Toronto Blue Jays at Joker Marchant Stadium on Sunday, Feb. 27.

The schedule is highlighted by three visits from the National League East Division Champion Philadelphia Phillies on March 6, 9 and 26.

And the Yankees will play there on Feb. 28, the Boston Red Sox on March 15 and Atlanta Braves on March 19.
