European equities ticked higher in a low-volume session led by the construction sector.

The FTSE Eurofirst 300 index gained 0.2 per cent to 1,142.98, lifted by construction stocks such as Skanska, the Swedish building group, which rose on news that it was selling a highway concession in Chile for SKr5bn.
