BINGHAMTON Binghamton lawyer Carman M. Garufi has been named for the fourth consecutive year in the New York Super Lawyers, Upstate Edition, magazine.

Garufi appears in the 2010 issue under family law, along with top lawyers in New York state as determined by their peers and independent research by Law Politics, a publication of Key Professional Media Inc.

Garufi also was selected for the fifth consecutive year as one of the “Best Lawyers in America” by Woodward/White Inc. He is listed in the year-end double issue of New York Magazine, which has been available since Dec. 13.

Since 1983, Woodward/White has published the annual listing of the best lawyers in 77 specialties in the United States by surveying top lawyers who confidentially evaluate their professional peers. Lawyers are urged to use their highest standards, evaluating nominees on their individual merits.

Garufi has been practicing law for 27 years. He has a general practice at 68 Oak St.

The law office announced that Alena E. Van Tull joined the firm as an associate. She handles family law and matrimonial matters.
