Last month, we reported that Intel’s 32nm microarchitecture based Sandy Bridge family of processors are scheduled to arrive on January 9, 2011. That’s the same day Consumer Electronics Show 2011 ends in Las Vegas. HP Support pages had accidentally listed two Pavilion dv7 laptop models promising Intel Sandy Bridge CPUs on its website. Later the link was taken down.
Though the new HP Pavilion dv7 model links were taken down, CNET managed to get as screen grab of the Intel Sandy Bridge CPU model numbers for the Pavilion dv7 laptops. One of the Pavilion dv7 model has 2.3GHz Intel Core i7-2820QM processor listed with SC Turbo Speed of 3.4GHz. It’s basically the Intel Turbo Boost technology that increases and reduces the processor speed to optimize the performance and power usage.
While the other Pavilion dv7 model was listed with 2GHz Intel Core i7-2630QM with SC Turbo speed of 2.90GHz. Both Intel Core i7-2820QM and Core i7-2630QM have a thermal design power rating of 45Watts. Some of the Pavilion dv7 laptop models will feature SuperSpeed USB 3.0 port along with the regular USB 2.0 as well.
Few Lenovo and Gateway laptop models sporting Intel Sandy Bridge CPUs were spotted last month. We hope to see number of laptops running Intel Sandy Bridge CPUs at the CES 2011 starting next week.
