Baku, Fineko/abc.az. The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) continues drafting a package of agreements with Turkey on the basis of the memorandums signed in 2010 on the conditions of sale and transit of Azeri gas via this country’s territory.
Today in Baku SOCAR president Rovnag Abdullayev has informed that talks with BOTAS are underway.
“I hope that in the first half of 2011 we will sign the entire package, including a transit agreement and a sale and purchase agreement,” Abdullayev said.
Earlier conclusion of the above-listed agreements was expected until 1 April 2011. An investment decision on Stage 2 of Shah Deniz Project and gas pipeline Nabucco depends on them.
“In parallel, Turkey has started paying off arrears in payments for gas delivered within Stage 1 of Shah-Deniz Project. The $500 million debt sum was divided into 2 stages (by $250 million) and repayment on it has been started,” Abdullayev said.
