Vikings interim head coach Leslie Frazier listed quarterback Brett Favre as “out” for the Monday night game against Chicago this week with a sprained right shoulder. He was surprisingly upgraded to questionable on Monday and ended up starting the game against the Bears that night, which did not sit well with Chicago head coach Lovie Smith.

This week, Frazier said that Favre will be listed as doubtful with a concussion, which leaves the door open for the 41-year-old quarterback on his last leg to play against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday night.

Frazier, who is fighting for a chance to take over permanently as head coach of the Vikings, is only hurting his chances by playing Brett Favre. It is time to call it a career, hang up the cleats, and head to Mississippi.

The Vikings are out of it and will be home for the playoffs. Favre has already announced that this is it, his last season, although we have heard that before, and the Vikings need to see what quarterback Joe Webb can do.

They are going to need a new quarterback next season and they should be playing for next year now, not to pad Brett’s stats or give him a chance to go out with a bang.

In addition, if Favre really cared about the team more then himself, he would bow out and let Webb have a shot.

Favre is so banged up that his 41-year old body must feel like 61 at this point, but he still wants to play.  He has a bad ankle, a bad shoulder, and now he has a concussion, but he is Brett Favre, put him in there.

Besides, if he sustains another concussion this week, he may be a vegetable who cannot even remember anything from his great NFL Career.

But hey, it is Brett Favre.

Enough already! Tell Favre it is for his own good not to play and that his health for the rest of his life is more important then his ego is.

If Frazier really wanted this job next season, he would take charge and tell Favre to sit down, shut up and that he is done, like it or not.
