ESPN’s Chris Mortensen is reporting that the Miami Dolphins are on former Steelers coach Bill Cowher’s short list of teams he would consider coaching next season should the job become available.
The report says Cowher is ready to return to the sidelines after a four-year break from coaching. He listed the Dolphins, Houston Texans and New York Giants atop his list of teams he could consider coaching next season, the report said.
According to Mortensen: “The Dolphins may be the most intriguing option because owner Steve Ross has wanted to energize his fan base as the team has played second fiddle to the Miami Heat ever since LeBron James and Chris Bosh signed with the NBA team.”
The Dolphins were 7-6 entering today’s game against Buffalo and hanging on to slim playoff hopes.
Cowher coached the Steelers for 15 seasons from 1992-2006. He had a 149-90-1 record. His Steelers won two AFC titles and were Super Bowl Champions in 2005.
