Residents object to listed building windows and doors plans

Local people in North Yorkshire have been voicing their objections to plans to install uPVC windows and a sliding door on a house near a Grade II listed building in the Sleights area.

The Whitby Gazette reports North York Moors National Park planning committee has approved the proposals, by Simon Jay, to fit the wood-effect features to Yeoman Hall, Woodlands.

It was determined by officials that the installation of the windows and door would not impact on the surrounding national park area or detract from the character of the property, which is not itself a listed building.

However, residents have argued otherwise, with the newspaper reporting that some individuals believe it would be inappropriate to make such additions to a house that is so near the Grade II listed Woodlands, which was built in the 17th century.

Last month, it was reported by the Gazette and Herald that Ryedale District Council has banned the use of uPVC windows on any property in the village of Oswaldkirk, which is designated as a conservation area.
