Fun World fixtures auction set for Saturday; building still listed for sale

Fun World, a family entertainment center in the Town of Brookfield, has closed after its last day of business on Sunday.

In August, I reported that owner Richard “Bart” Jahn, who has operated Fun World since it opened 16 years ago, planned to sell the business. Fun World is profitable, Jahn said, but he’s ready to retire and spend more time at his vacation home in northern Wisconsin.

The 25,662-square-foot building, located one block north of Blue Mound Road and about a block west of Janacek Road, is still listed with broker Brian Gingrass, of Commercial Properties Associates Inc. The listed sale price is $3 million.

Meanwhile, an auction of Fun World’s fixtures is scheduled for Saturday. The items being sold include kitchen equipment, arcade games and the 45-foot-high,12-seat Ferris wheel.

Viewing of the items begins at 9 a.m., with the auction to start at 10:30 a.m., Jahn told me Monday. A $300 refundable deposit is being required of bidders. For more information, go to badgerauction.com.
