2010 Aquanita Stakes Field, Barriers & Betting

The action of the Perth Summer Racing Carnival continues this Saturday November 27th with the highly anticipated Winterbottom Stakes Day featuring an elite line-up of races including the $80,000 Listed Aquanita Stakes (1800m).

The 2010 Aquanita Stakes final field features 14 quality three-year-olds lead by Neville Parnham’s star Blackfriars colt Playing God.

Playing God has been in red hot form this season winning a three-year-olds 1200m sprint at Belmont, running an eye-catching second to Hoegaarden in the Listed Fairetha Stakes (1400m) and then taking out the coveted Group 2 WA Guineas (1600m) here last start.

Drawn ideally on the rails for the Aquanita Stakes, Playing God looks hard to beat even with a top-weight of 58kg on their back, to be ridden by Steven Parnham.

Playing God’s biggest threat will come from the Joe Byrne-trained Hoegaarden also drawn well in barrier three for Saturday.

Quality Flying Spur gelding Hoegaarden scored their maiden win when beating Playing God in the Fairetha Stakes on October 30 then ran a strong third in the WA Guineas.

Galileo colt View The Stars is another horse with genuine claims in the Aquanita Stakes this year, the Paul Jordan-trained galloper looking to improve on their ninth place finish in the Guineas before which they took out a three-year-olds’ handicap and placed third in the Fairetha Stakes.

Other notable Aquanita Stakes hopefuls include improving Dubawi colt Sheikrattle’n’roll, local runner Stormy Scene seeking their maiden win and promising grey filly Oratrice.

The 2010 Burswood International Aquanita Stakes is scheduled as Race 8 at Ascot on Saturday, due to jump at 4:25pm (local WA time).
