DETROIT — The Detroit Red Wings will know more about the condition of Danny Cleary when they return to practice Tuesday, but general manager Ken Holland on Monday said the forward does not have a significant injury.

Holland said Cleary “got his bell rung” and might have hurt his shoulder, too, when he was checked into the boards by Calgary’s Mark Giordano late in the second period Sunday.

Cleary wanted to return to the game, but Holland said doctors held him out as a precaution.

“He’s going to be OK,” Holland said. “Piet (trainer Van Zant) said to me after the game that it’s nothing significant. He’s day-to-day.”

Meanwhile, goaltender Chris Osgood (groin strain) hopes to return to practice Tuesday. If all goes right, he could dress as the backup Friday or Sunday.

Forward Kris Draper has been practicing with the team but needs a week of battling drills before being cleared.

Holland said Draper might be ready during the three-game West Coast trip next week.
