THE Clive Brittain-trained Nideeb backed up an impressive win last time out when denying the well-backed Summit Surge in the Listed contest at Lingfield on Saturday.
Nideeb beat Chock A Block by seven lengths in a Kempton conditions race just ten days ago. On Saturday he proved better than the Luca Cumani-trained 5-4 favourite, who was using the Lingfield contest as a stepping stone for the Hong Kong Cup on December 12.
Hong Kong remains the plan for runner-up whose owner Bill Bellew said: “The favourite was not suited by the sudden drop in pace and will be better back on turf.”
The winner was always prominent behind pacesetter Suits Me and catapulted himself off the final bend into an unassailable lead in the home straight.
In contrast, Kieren Fallon tracked the action towards the rear on Summit Surge, so when Nideeb’s jockey Chris Catlin made his move Fallon was at the two-furlong marker and facing the prospect of getting beyond a fair bit of traffic.
Once in the straight Summit Surge lived up to his name and stormed into second spot but was too late to catch Nideeb who scored by a length. Suits Me finished third.
