Southport have transfer-listed captain Adam Flynn after his coaching role with Liverpool limited his involvement with the Blue Square Bet Premier side.

Southport manager Liam Watson said: “I need total commitment and Adam cannot give the team that.

“We have talked it through amicably and agreed to part. Adam can seek another club – he can then fit his coaching career with a club part-time.”

Former Everton midfielder Alan Moogan will take over as skipper.

Moogan is currently one of Southport’s community coaches and will lead the club for the first time in Saturday’s trip to Newport.
