Speculation is already rife about where Prince William and his bride-to-be Kate Middleton will take their royal honeymoon, with New Zealand featuring on the list of possibilities.

British bookmakers Ladbrokes have listed New Zealand at 20-to-1 odds to be the honeymoon destination next year, ahead of France, Spain and Thailand.

Though a date for the wedding is yet to be set, the couple say it will be some time during the English spring or summer.

Those dates tie in perfectly with the Rugby World Cup, which William expressed a strong interest in when he visited New Zealand in January.

During his whirlwind Wellington trip, he told the Dominion Post he “hoped” he could come back for the tournament.

“I’d really like to,” the Prince said.

He said his stay was “fantastic, very welcoming, very warm – I wish I wasn’t going”.

Whether Kate is a rugby fan or not is unknown, however.

New Zealand faces some stiff competition from other countries – and a boat – as a honeymoon destination though.

Ladbrokes have given Kenya the best odds, with a 3-to-1 chance. It also listed a cruise aboard the Royal Yacht Britannia at 3-to-1.

Scotland and Wales are at 6-to-1 and 10-to-1 odds respectively. South Africa is also on 10-to-1.

New Zealand is eighth on the list, tied with Australia and the Maldives.
